The hotel suited us for the one night we were there, it was in a handy location for walking around the cbd.
The fact that it was in good need of refurbishment, peeling paint in bathrooms is not nice although the bathroom tiles etc were clean and tidy. The jug was difficult to fill from the tap.
our stay was great, however, did not know where our fridge or tea and coffee facilities were until the following day when we were checking out and seen in the next room.
The hotel was very easing going with all the noise, that is a big thing for some hotels and they put it with it very well.
The staff! The lady on the front desk was rude and needs an attitude adjustment. we are the customers a little bit of respect goes a long way.
The check in staff where very imformative.
Not really - but check the chairs in the rooms - some of them have broken backs etc
The location in Townsville was very good and the rooms were a decent size. A little worn looking going by the carpet and throws on the beds
People were very friendly. room was fine. Nice toiletries.
We had problems opening our door. Both the key and the hinge were a problem. We did report this. Apparently our floor had been affected by the cyclone. Perhaps the door frame was twisted. Although wi-fi was offered we could not get a strong enough connection, so we went to an internet cafe.
It was being refurbished and should have been closed. The laundry room was disgusting. It rained heavily and rain came through the ceiling.
unfortunately my room was moldy and not nice. there is bad odor in the walk way too.moldy smell in the room.
Booking rated this place 3 and a half stars, I wouldn't give it one star. The standard of the accommodation was disgusting. There was paint flaking everywhere in the bathroom. The toilet bowl was not cleaned. Stains littered the carpet. I took pictures of all disgusting areas, and can be provided. The car park was location 200m from the hotel premises.
I attended a conference at the hotel and must say the food presentation was of a high standard and the morning and afternoon teas were excellent. I compliment the kitchen staff.
The small size of the room an especially the bathroom. Condition of room and bathroom is now ageing and needs updating/renovating. When we arrived our room 320 had a leaking refrigerator and water was all over the entrance carpet and somebody had placed an absorption towel in the fridge. We asked for a room change and were given next door at 318. These problems should not be there when a quest enters a room for the first time. Also it was noted there is no ABC channel on the television set. Shower was good but bathroom needs an exhaust fan as constantly having to try and clear continuously a fogged up mirror to have a shave reaches a point of near anger. Also no provision of hotel parking for a quest car, valet service is not an alternative.
Not bad for the money although there are better hotels for less money. would be good if shopping in town
This Hotel only changed ownership the weekend before our stay so any comments are for how we found the Hotel on our stay -- it was clean & tidy a little tired but we undersand a full refurb will be undertaken in the near future, the position just off City Centre is ideal for short stay or business & the basement swimming pool was clean & cool, we enjoyed our one night & would happily stay again.
recent ownership change was reflected in staff in Dining areas due to new computer system for food orders
We went to a concert and the hotel was in a convenient location - walking distance to and from concert. The room was cheap and after seeing our room - I know why!
The room we were in was old and run down (416). In serious need of a renovation and make over. The picture of the room on the website that I used to decide on my bookinh did not look anything like the actual room we were issued - very misleading.
friendly personal, nice restaurant, good kitchen
long-term construction going on outside of the hotel, Technical problems with the shower were not fixed after complaining within the week of the stay
Unfortunately, nothing! However, we haved stayed at The Plaza about 2 years ago and we rather enjoyed it and the breakfast too, but it seems a bit has changed since.
We originally booked the executive suite but a few days after the booking upgraded to the VIP Spa Suite, and the spa didn't work, the room was falling apart and the paint was bubbling off the walls. The corridors and lifts on the way to the room were really bad (smells, wall / carpet damage, unkept). The breakfast buffet was very disappointing...no coffee, no juice, no croissants and very limited hot food to choose from.
